Concept
The State Government established the State Sports School in 1992 as an Autonomous Body to promote the concept of “Catch Them Young and Teach Them Right” to achieve excellence in Sports & Academics.
About the school
The school aims to identify young children with the highest physical ability and athletic potential and support them in a nurturing environment with sound academics and scientific training to excel at the top tier of sports.
The school was established in 1992, and since then, students of the school have competed in the Olympics, World Championships, and other international and national competitions, winning hundreds of medals.
State Centre of Excellence
Telangana State Sports School, Hakimpet has been selected by the Government of India to be upgraded to Khelo India State Centre of Excellence (KISCE).

Campus
The Govt. has allotted the land to the extent of Ac.206.05gts. to the institution at Hakimpet (Village), Shameerpet (Mandal), Medchal-Malkajigiri (District), Telangana State.
Education
4th class to Sr. Inter with State Syllabus (English Medium) Co-Education
Disciplines
Presently there are 11 Disciplines i.e. Archery, Athletics, Foot Ball, Fencing, Gymnastics, Judo, Water Sports (Rowing & Sailing and Kayaking & Canoeing), Sepak Takraw, Weightlifting, Volleyball and Conditioning are available in the school.
